Kamlager-Dove Sworn-In to Represent the 54th Assembly District
(SACRAMENTO) — Sydney K. Kamlager-Dove (D- Los Angeles) took the oath of office to serve as the Assemblywoman for the 54th Assembly District today in a special ceremony at the California State Capitol. The oath was administered by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. The 54th Assembly district incorporates the communities west of downtown Los Angeles, from Crenshaw to Culver City, and as far north as Westwood and Inglewood.
“I’m truly humbled and honored to be representing the 54th District,” said Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help bring much needed resources to my constituents. But most importantly, to ensure the voices of the people in my district are heard.”
In the Assembly, Kamlager-Dove plans to work on education issues, criminal justice reform and poverty issues which are central to her work in Los Angeles and Sacramento.
Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove was born and raised in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California. She returned to the east coast to attend Carnegie Mellon, earning a master’s degree in arts management and public policy. She has spent more than 20 years working in the nonprofit world, the entertainment industry, and in government.
