Following Passage of Paid Sick Leave, Assembly Member Santiago Responds

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Following the Assembly’s passage of SB-95 which provides paid sick leave, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“Paid sick leave represents fairness, justice, and decency for California’s workers,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago. “Currently, sick employees are forced to work to provide food for their families even when they’re infected with COVID-19. Employees then spread the virus to their co-workers and their co-workers families, thus worsening the pandemic for everyone. It makes sense that we passed SB-95 which will provide paid sick leave so that all Californians, especially our most vulnerable, are more protected from this virus.”

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Communications and Conveyance and Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He also sits on the Assembly Committees on Public Safety, Health, Higher Education and Utilities and Energy. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
