California Prepares for the Omicron Variant, Assembly Member Santiago Responds

(Los Angeles, CA) Following the recent developments regarding the newly detected Omicron COVID-19 variant, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“As California prepares for cases of the newly detected Omicron variant, it is vital that Californians continue to follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.

“We must fire all cylinders to vaccinate our communities, especially the hardest hit areas. The more people that are vaccinated, the more protected we are against a winter surge. The Omicron variant is cause for concern and now is not the time to let up on keeping our communities safe from COVID-19.” 

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Communications and Conveyance Committee and the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He also sits on the Assembly Committee on Health, Public Safety, Higher Education and Utilities and Energy. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
