(Sacramento, CA) – Following the announcement of the paid sick-leave deal between Governor Gavin Newsom, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:
“Our frontline workers need support and our communities need support,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.
“That’s why I’m excited about the deal requiring two weeks of frontline worker paid sick leave until September 30, 2022. Omicron is hitting our communities hard and it is time to fuel the frontline workers who fuel our communities. Let’s give a big thank you to Governor Newsom, Speaker Rendon and President pro Tempore Atkins for the deal as we keep our recovery moving!”
Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization and the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
