Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager-Dove Co-Authors Legislation to Restore the Right to Vote to People on Parole

 (SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today Assemblymember Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Los Angeles) introduced Assembly Constitutional Amendment 6 (ACA 6), known as the Free the Vote Act, which would allow people on parole to vote. Currently, approximately 46,000 Californians who have been released from prison are not allowed to vote in local, state or federal elections.

Bill Will Help Transform Vacant Blighted Land into a Beacon of Job Creation and Redevelopment for the Inglewood Region 

Sacramento, Calif. – The California Legislature Friday overwhelmingly approved legislation by Assemblywoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, (D-Los Angeles),helping pave the way for a game-changing arena project that will stimulate the economy with thousands of high-wage jobs while providing new environmental benefits.

 AB 987 passed the California Legislature with bipartisan support, demonstrating statewide backing and growing momentum for the new LA Clippers basketball and entertainment complex. It now heads to the desk of California Governor Jerry Brown.

SACRAMENTO— Assemblywoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Los Angeles) has expressed support for SB 10 (Hertzberg), which would eliminate California’s money bail system and replace the current pretrial process with one that would require local courts to establish pretrial assessment programs.

SB 10 would eliminate cash money bail for many awaiting trial on misdemeanors and would ensure that individuals are held only if they are a threat to public safety or are at risk of missing their court dates.
