Assemblymember González Condemns ICE Raids as Government-Sanctioned Oppression

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Today, Assemblymember Mark González issued the following statement in response to the surge in ICE raids across Los Angeles.

"The surge in ICE raids across Los Angeles is government-sanctioned oppression. People are being taken off the streets simply for being brown," said Assemblymember Mark González. "That's racist. That's unconstitutional. That's un-American.

We've seen legal residents and even U.S. citizens detained while working, waiting for the bus, or going about their daily lives.

This isn't about safety — it's about fear and control. And it's escalating.

These raids are happening in broad daylight, with no accountability, and Republican leaders continue to remain silent.

Their silence is cowardice. Their complicity is dangerous. Our communities deserve dignity, protection, and the full rights promised to all.

These raids need to stop now."

Assemblymember Mark González is the Assembly Majority Whip. He represents the 54th Assembly District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Commerce, Montebello, and Vernon.
