Assemblymember González Responds to Appeals Court Ruling: "This Isn't About Safety — It's About Control"

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Today, Assemblymember Mark González issued the following statement in response to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision to leave troops in Los Angeles under the control of the Trump Administration.

"When courts side with power instead of the people, justice takes a back seat — but we won't stop fighting for it," said Assemblymember Mark González. "Let's be clear: sending troops into our neighborhoods to aid ICE raids and shut down protest isn't about safety — it's about control.

California didn't ask for soldiers — we're demanding our freedom. No judge, no president, and no amount of force can take away our right to stand up to injustice."

Assemblymember Mark González is the Assembly Majority Whip. He represents the 54th Assembly District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Commerce, Montebello, and Vernon.
