Assemblymember Miguel Santiago Issues Statement on Los Angeles School Shooting

For immediate release:

 

“Like many of you, I am just processing the information that is trickling out about the shooting this morning at Salvador Castro Middle School,” said Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles). “As a father, I can only imagine the terror that the parents and families of the school are experiencing right now.”

 

According to media reports, a shooting occurred this morning at 8:55 a.m. inside a middle school classroom at Salvador Castro Middle School – which is co-located with Belmont High School in Los Angeles.  The schools are located on the 1500 block of West 2nd Street. Reports from local authorities indicate that two students were shot and the shooter has been contained, though investigations continue.

 

Santiago further noted, “I want my community to know that my office has been, and will be in constant contact with the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments and Los Angeles Unified School District.  We are standing by to provide any resources that may be helpful for impacted families.”
