Sacramento, CA – Kicking off Women’s History Month, Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) today honored Patty Rodriguez as Woman of the Year in the 53rd Assembly District. Patty was honored for using her business and entrepreneurial expertise to inspire others to give back to their community.
“It is my distinct privilege to welcome someone who has had such a significant impact on the lives of so many in my district,” said Assemblymember Santiago. “Patty stands up and speaks out when the world tells her to sit down and shut up. Her endless persistence, hard work and creativity are an inspiration and I am proud to present her with this award.”
Patty Rodriguez is a nationally recognized on-air personality and Senior Producer of “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” a keynote speaker and an entrepreneur. After book publishers rejected her idea to produce bilingual children’s books, Patty co-founded her own company “Lil’ Libros” in Huntington Park. Her books can now be purchased on Amazon.com and in Target stores. Born in East Los Angeles to Mexican immigrant parents, she’s become a role model in her community and a voice of hope for many.
“It is an absolute honor to receive this nomination and be a part of a group of women who are working to improve their communities and the lives of others,” Patty Rodriguez said. “California is a state of diverse women, and this state and its women - most especially women of color - are at the forefront of change. The rest of the country is watching us and we are here to lead!”
The California State Assembly hosts a Woman of the Year celebration every year, to highlight the achievements and contributions of outstanding women throughout California during Women’s History Month.
