California Lawmakers Present $4M Check to Build First Ever Korean American National Museum

Los Angeles, CA – For more than a century, the Korean American community in Los Angeles has been growing and thriving; knitting itself into the cultural fabric of one of the most populous cities in the nation. Soon, for the first time, the history of the Korean American community will be on display at the Korean American National Museum in the heart of Koreatown.  This year, Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) successfully fought alongside his colleagues to secure $4 million in the 2019-2020 state budget to help construct the museum.

WHAT:            Local Assemblymembers, Senators, and City Councilmembers will join Korean American National Museum leadership to hand off a check for $4 million.

VISUALS:         Elected officials will sign a giant check before handing it off to Museum leadership, 3-D models of the planned Museum construction.

Assemblymember Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly’s Communications and Conveyance Committee, and a member of both the Assembly Public Safety Committee and the California Latino Legislative Caucus. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
