Governor Newsom Gives the State of the State and Assembly Member Santiago Responds

For immediate release:

(Sacramento, CA) Following Governor Newsom’s conclusion of the annual “State of the State” speech, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“Governor Newsom highlighted how California has come back stronger and thanks to our work, our surplus is now $60 billion, COVID-19 cases are declining and we are making unprecedented investments in addressing homelessness,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.

“What is important however is ensuring this economic growth benefits all Californians. While we have moved forward leaps and bounds with our progressive policies, it is imperative that we continue to fight to ensure that no one is left behind and that our lives are better not just compared to last year but better than before COVID-19. Let’s get to work!”

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization and the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
