Shooting near Grand Central Market and Assembly Member Santiago Responds

(Los Angeles, CA) Following the shooting near Grand Central Market, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“As the State Assembly Member representing the Grand Central Market area, I am absolutely devastated beyond words to learn of the senseless shooting and the death of an individual just one block away from my District office,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.

“Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased in this painful time. Today, there was also the shooting at a church in Laguna Hills. While we are still learning more about the shootings, one thing is certain. It is that we need stricter gun laws and we need them now. Gun violence is an urgent emergency and it is time for us to act immediately.”

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization and the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He also sits on the Assembly Committee on Health, Public Safety, Higher Education and Utilities and Energy. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
