(Sacramento, CA) – Following the passage of a historic budget with unprecedented investments in everyday needs such as gas, food, and housing, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:
“California’s once-in-a generation budget is going right back into the pockets of millions of Californians to pay for everyday needs such as gas, food, and housing,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.
“This budget supports our most in-need communities by giving families up to $1,050 in inflation relief, providing food assistance to tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants age 55 and older, expanding access to Medi-Cal and Free Community College for All, and increasing how much cash back adults receive through the California Earned Income Tax Credit. This budget delivers much-needed relief to families on all fronts to ensure families thrive as prices for every-day necessities continue to skyrocket. This budget is a giant leap forward to a better future.”
Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization and the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He represents the 53rd District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Huntington Park, and Vernon.
