Assembly Member Santiago and Community Partners Push to Provide California ID Cards for All

For immediate release:

(Los Angeles, CA) Following the press conference to support AB 1766 (expands access to state-issued IDs to all California residents), AB 1766’s co-author Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“Undocumented folks should not have to rely on their student IDs or gym membership cards to present themselves as existing CA residents,” said Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.

“It is time to expand access to state-issued IDs for those who are currently ineligible due to their immigration status. AB 1766 will finally allow the millions of undocumented residents already living in California to properly identify themselves and fully participate in our communities.”

“I thank Assembly Member Reggie Jones-Sawyer for joining us in support of AB 1766 and for constantly supporting the bill as one of its lead authors.”
