President Biden Signs “Respect for Marriage Act” and Assembly Member Santiago Responds

(Los Angeles, CA) – Following President Biden’s signing of the “Respect for Marriage Act”, (Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“Thank you President Biden for making history by signing the Respect for Marriage Act,” said Assembly Member Santiago. “This ensures that all marriages are recognized federally and that all states will recognize same sex-marriages performed in other states, regardless of what the Supreme Court does. This will enshrine marriage equality in our federal law.”

“Here in California, let’s do everything possible to support the Respect for Marriage Act and do all we can to stand with our LGBTQ+ community members.”  

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization and Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Los Angeles County Homelessness. He also sits on the Assembly Committees on Public Safety, Health, Higher Education and Utilities and Energy. He represents the 54th District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Commerce, Montebello and Vernon.
