Digital Driver’s Licenses Move Forward and Assembly Member Santiago Responds

For immediate release:

(Los Angeles, CA) Following the news of the pilot program of up to 1.5 million digital driver’s licenses in the State of California (driver’s licenses you can store on your phone), Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“Back in 2021, we pushed for AB 1503 which would allow you to have a digital driver’s license that you can store on your phone and now, I am so excited to see this pilot program begin,” said Assembly Member Santiago.

“Signing up for the pilot program is not difficult. Californians need to download the “CA DMV Wallet App” on an iPhone or Android, input their DL# and/or SSN# and then scan their driver’s license. Additional information can be found here: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/ca-dmv-wallet/

Digital driver’s licenses are about increasing accessibility and access. They also follow a template that many other states are doing successfully. Let’s do this!”

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization. He also sits on the Assembly Committees on Public Safety, Health, HigherEducation and Utilities and Energy. He represents the 54th District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Commerce, Montebello, and Vernon.
