(Sacramento, CA) Following today’s announcement regarding an early action agreement on the 2024-2025 budget, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“We must address the budget crisis head on while continuing to uplift our most vulnerable Californians. Today, this plan gets us one step closer to addressing the budget shortfall by approximately $17.3 billion,” said Assembly Member Santiago.

“Although the budget forecast is not as strong as previous years, the Legislature remains committed to ensuring a robust and healthy economy while protecting critical investments that help all Californians weather the challenges of everyday life. I applaud that this early action agreement makes sure that there are no cuts to core health and human services programs which Californians who are struggling to afford rent and even food rely on strongly.

I look forward to continuing this work to build a California for ALL. Let’s get it done!”
