May Revise Announced and Assembly Member Santiago Responds

For immediate release:

(Sacramento, CA) Following the release of Governor Newsom’s “May Revision” budget proposal, Assembly Member Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement:

“For years, we fought tooth and nail to invest in basic essentials that help ALL Californians of ALL backgrounds and income levels. We know that the state’s current budget challenges are significant and will require difficult decisions,” said Assembly Member Santiago. “I am encouraged that the Governor’s May Revision is forward-looking and improves budget options in the future, but we must fight to protect critical investments that help all Californians weather the challenges of everyday life, such as rising rents, food insecurity, and other core health and human services programs.”

“I remain committed to ensuring a robust and healthy economy, but we must address the budget crisis head on while continuing to uplift our most vulnerable Californians. I look forward to continuing this work over the coming months to build a California for ALL. Let’s get it done!”

Assembly Member Miguel Santiago is the Assistant Assembly Majority Leader. He serves on the Arts, Entertainment, Sports and Tourism Committee, the Health Committee, and the Utilities & Energy Committee.
