(Los Angeles) – Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) joined community groups at a rally urging the governor to sign Santiago’s Assembly Bill 19. If signed into law, AB 19 would establish the California College Promise to, among other things, waive fees for one academic year for first-time students enrolled in 12 or more semester units. "Community college gave me hope when I felt hopeless," University of South California student Amy Chong said at the rally, "Community College is the reason why I am able to pursue my passion today."
