(Boyle Heights, CA) – This morning, Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), presented Managed Career Solutions, Inc. with a $500,000 check representing a veterans’ workforce grant from the California Employment Development Department (EDD) for their important work increasing local employment opportunities for veterans throughout Los Angeles County.

The Office of Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), in partnership with the Police and Business Association of Hollenbeck Area, will be hosting three free community movie screenings and back-to-school supplies giveaways to the first 250 students in attendance at each event.

“For too long, landlocked, freeway-locked communities near heavy industry like mine have been ignored during major environmental movements in California,” said Assemblymember Santiago. “This is an issue that hits close to home for me (and many other inner city legislators). My young son, who is being raised in these neighborhoods, unfortunately has asthma. I’m proud to be an author of AB 617 to ensure that future generations of Angelenos have the ability to breathe when they step out of their homes.”
